Obverse: Bears the portrait of Augustus with the legend IMP CAESAR.

Reverse: Shows a Capricorn with a cornucopia on its back with legend AVGUSTUS.

History: On 16th January, 27 B.C.E., the Roman Senate granted Octavian the title of Augustus and the Roman empire began. By the end of his long reign he could justly claim that he had 'found Rome of brick and left it marble'
